"A good photograph is one that communicates a fact, touches the heart and leaves the viewer a changed person for having seen it. It is, in a word, effective."

Irving Penn

How beautiful is that quote above?

And how wonderful would it be to have that feeling, that reaction, to your own family photos. My goal is to create that for you by making myself a fly on the wall as you and your loved ones live in your reality. When you look at your photos you should feel it in your heart, a rush of emotion. Mundane moments only feel mundane in that moment. It's when we think back to them that we long to experience it again.

What's the difference between Lifestyle and Documentary Photography?

For me at least, lifestyle photography has a bit more structure to the photoshoot than documentary. There will be moments where I will give you direction (pick him up and kiss his cheek, take her hand and twirl her around, everyone hold hands and walk towards me while smiling at each other...) and sometimes I will pose you gently (like placing a hand just so). All of this in amongst giving broad direction (like, mum and dad kiss while all the kids chase each other around mum and dad's legs. Or talk to each other about your favourite day) and I'm flitting around you capturing it all.

Documentary is very hands off. No posing, no direction from me at all. I follow your lead, I'm there moving around you as you go about whatever it is you're doing (out at the beach for a fish and chips dinner, making pizza in your kitchen, homeschooling your kid/s...). Below are some examples of photos from documentary photoshoots. Examples of lifestyle photoshoots are shown in my Portfolio tab.
